Digstock VII was unlike anything we’d ever done before. We’ve hosted massive events on sprawling farmland in the Carolinas, brought relic hunters together on historic battlegrounds, and even curated small, artifact-focused digs—but this time, we left our comfort zone completely.

And we left the East Coast entirely.
A Coast-to-Coast Collaboration
After the incredible turnout and success of Digstock V, our long-time sponsors, the Gold Prospectors Association of America (GPAA) and Lost Dutchman's Mining Association (LDMA), came to us with a bold idea: "Let’s take Digstock west."
Where to? The historic Duisenburg Gold Claim in the Mojave Desert of California—nearly 3,000 miles from our home base.
The concept: a co-hosted, one-of-a-kind gold prospecting adventure, combining dry washing, nugget shooting, and classic Digstock excitement.
We couldn’t say no.
Westward Bound
One week before the event, I loaded up the truck and hit the road. From the lava fields of New Mexico to the endless plains of Missouri, I took in sights that most people only dream of. It was a soul-refreshing drive—and a reminder that every journey with Digstock brings new stories, new places, and new people.
A Desert Adventure Begins
Unlike our typical digs, Digstock VII was a more intimate gathering. We kept it simple: each sponsor had their own branded tent, and Digstock brought along our signature energy and enthusiasm. The desert sun blazed overhead, but that didn’t stop the excitement from building.
We were thrilled to welcome industry giants:
First Texas Products, who sent a massive box of gear and giveaways.
Garrett Metal Detectors, who joined us onsite and generously donated a Garrett Axiom.
Minelab Metal Detectors, who showed up in force and gifted a Gold Monster 1000 for our prize pool.
It was a treasure hunter’s paradise—gold in the hills, prizes on the tables, and memories waiting to be made.
Tales from the Mojave
Our first day brought in a strong turnout, including curious locals who stopped by to share their own stories of gold, grit, and survival in the high desert. From seasoned nugget shooters to first-time dry washers, everyone had a chance to get their hands dirty and hunt for that elusive western gold.
And they found it.
Over the next two days, participants uncovered natural gold pickers, and the seeded hunt was a smashing success. Digstock planted thousands of dollars in silver, and LDMA contributed a wide array of gold goodies, all hidden in the sands of Duisenburg. The thrill of discovery was everywhere.
Sure, we saw our fair share of spiders, scorpions, and classic Mojave wildlife (most of which, frankly, we were happy to admire from a distance), but nothing could dampen the spirit of adventure that surrounded this unique event.
The Long Way Home
As the sun set on our final day in California, I prepared for the long drive back east. But rather than rush, I took the scenic route—camping under the stars and catching a breathtaking sunrise over the Grand Canyon. That moment, quiet and vast, was a perfect close to an unforgettable journey.

Digstock Goes West—and Beyond
Digstock VII marked a major milestone: proof that our brand of hands-on, heart-filled treasure hunting can thrive anywhere—even in the scorching sands of the California desert.
We’re beyond grateful to GPAA, LDMA, our incredible sponsors, and every single participant who took a chance on this western adventure. It expanded what Digstock can be—and reminded us that there are no limits when you’re driven by passion and curiosity.
Final Thoughts
Digstock VII wasn’t just a dig—it was a journey. A challenge. A celebration of community, collaboration, and the golden spirit of adventure. Whether you struck gold or just took in the experience, we hope it left you with stories worth telling.
Here’s to the next horizon. And as always—keep digging.
